RULES FOR TEMPORARLY IMPORTING GUNS FOR SPORTING PURPUSES
Dear Shooter,
This page is meant to give you all the necessary information regarding the
procedure to legally transport your weapons in Italy to attend the 2003 European
Shotgun Championships.
Please note that, competitor's Division notwithstanding, importing weapons
and ammunition in Italy without a proper license is regarded as a serious
crime that can result in confiscation of the weapons and arrest.
Therefore, to comply with the Italian gun law, you must be in possession of
a valid EUROPEAN TRANSPORTATION GUN PERMIT or TEMPORARY FIREARMS IMPORTATION
FORM.
Shooters in possession of European Transportation Gun
Permit:
Completely fill the Entry Form & Invitation of the match, make a photocopy
and bring it with you during your travel.
There will be no problems in crossing the country borders with guns and ammunitions
if this proof of registration is shown on request altogether with your valid
European Transportation Gun Permit.
All other shooters:
Other shooters must apply for a Temporary Firearms Importation Form. This
form, provided by the match organization, completely filled by each single
shooter, must be produced when crossing the Italian border (whether by car,
plane or by train) to a Police Station, where it will be stamped. This procedure
must be repeated upon leaving Italy.
The importation form that you will receive is not by itself a proper license.
To become a valid permit it must be stamped at the border by the Border Police
both on arrival and departure so, please make sure you follow this procedure.
Completely fill the Entry Form & Invitation of the match, make a photocopy
